12 Artists 12 Days

12 Artists, 12 Days- Last Day {Day 12}

Today is the last day of 12 Artists, 12 Days for the year and it occurs to me how much the artists that I featured last year are still influencing and inspiring me, so I thought I would revisit a few of those who are still a strong interest. Finding lots of new artists is easy, finding artists whose work you like is also easy, but finding or narrowing down to artists who are truly inspiring my own work or interests is harder. Most of the artists from last year are still inspiring my work but these two in particular.

Brett Whiteley, 12 Artists, 12 Days {Day 11}

Art is an argument between what a thing looks like and what it means. Brett Whiteley
In a couple of days I get to attend the opening of a Whiteley exhibition just down the road at our local gallery and I'm so looking forward to seeing some of these in the flesh so to speak. I'm loving the dialogue they have with the landscape on my doorstep.

Claire Basler- 12 Artists 12 Days {Day 8}

The observation of nature brings me the ability to listen and to be open.
I am but a link for the transmission of its vitality, its force, its gentleness, its violence, its sensuality.
Its wealth is an inexhaustible source ; its tenacity is a teaching ; its
beauty is an emotion that finds itself every day renewed. ~

Giorgio Morandi, 12 Artists, 12 Days {Day 7}

"Nothing is more alien to me than an art that sets out to serve other purposes than those implied by the work of art in itself." Morandi

"I believe that nothing can be more abstract, more unreal, than what we actually see. We know that all we can see of the objective world, as human beings, never really exists as we see and understand it. Matter exists, of course, but has no intrinsic meaning of its own, such as the meanings that we attach to it. We can know only that a cup is a cup, that a tree is a tree." Morandi

Sylc- 12 Artists, 12 Days {Day 1}

I'm so in love with the work of French artist SylC so her richly layered painting are kicking off the blogalong, 12 Artists, 12 Days. I'm hoping to visit her work in some galleries soon.

12 Artists, 12 Days- it's almost time again

It's nearly that time again. Last year I ran a blogalong sharing an artist a day who were inspiring me at the time. This will be the second year, and whilst many of the artists from last year are still influencing me there are also other artists whose work is also inspiring my work. You can see last years artists here.

 My intention is to explore and consolidate what is inspiring me at the moment, to introduce some new artists (assuming that there will be some you already know and some you will be seeing for the first time) and to discover some new artists myself hopefully by your participation. I'm really curious to do this again in a year or two to see what's changed, who I'm looking at and so on.  I'm not going to ramble on about why I have chosen who I chose but let the artist's work speak for itself, the hardest thing is picking only 12 there are so many amazing artists out there, and so many I am soon to meet. I really hope you'll join me starting on September the 14th:

How you can participate

  • You could join me on your own blog (starting on the 14th of September, but spread the word now), introducing artists that you love and admire, either just one, or as many as you like, either with a post each or all in the same post (really there are no rules but I'll be doing one a day) with a link back here so we can find your posts (I will set up a linksy for that).
  •  If you don't have a blog, you could leave names and links in the comments, so that we can have a look at who is inspiring you.
  • You could share the button/badge (using the code below) so others can find us all :)

I'm so hoping you'll join me, I'm really looking forward to following the links, I've discovered some amazing artists following the links.

If you'd like to play along I've made us a badge and please enter your blog below in the linksy:
