Today, now, this moment, i look, i pause, i see, inhale, be, here, now
it dances, always, it dances
with the colours, the edges, the shadows
and I feel here
feet on the earth,
deep in my body
and yet, with the light, I am free
Photography as Sacred Pause
This workshop is an invitation to take a journey with me- a two week journey to develop a practice, through photography, for connecting to yourself, to ignite your creativity, to quieten the noise so you can hear yourself, nature, spirit, inspiration- to make space for magic and deep communion.
I'll be doing the practice right along side you, using various rituals, techniques and exercises designed to offer you a gateway into the moment, to rich expression and to the stillness within.
When I talk to women about what photography means to them I am surprised to hear how often photography was an opening to their deep creative practices. Photography is a portal. A tool that allowed them to express themselves, to play, to find the still point in the moment, a moment they stepped through and were changed, expanded. It is a portal to creativity, stillness, pause, reflection, truths, life. Creativity has always played a huge role in my life and yet there were times, months, even years, when I didn’t take a single photo or create. The disconnect. Then a simple practice brought me back to my creativity, to myself, and unlocked a rich depth slumbering and waiting. My gifts.
What does photography connect you to? What does it reveal, illuminate, amplify?
Leaf Song is a photographic meditation.
Together we will collect charming memories ☆ find magic ☆ pay attention ☆ give gratitude ☆ gather gifts ☆ create ritual ☆ hold fleeting moments ☆ be present and come home to ourselves
Together we will use photography as both an offering and a gift, we will see and be...
Leaf Song is a 2 week gathering online. You will receive prompts, direction, various ways and permission to deepen your own practice. There will be poetry and inspiration, there will be sparks of magic and invitations for spirit. You will have access to a private online classroom where lessons will be posted. We will also gather and share on Instagram and circle in a cozy private Facebook group (both of these are optional, you can also honour the quiet stillness by just going deep with yourself with your own practice).
What if the beauty all around was just a reflection of your heart, your soul...
Gift yourself a Sacred Pause:
What can I say that I have not said before?
So I’ll say it again.
The leaf has a song in it.
Stone is the face of patience.
Inside the river there is an unfinishable story
and you are somewhere in it
and it will never end until all ends.
Take your busy heart to the art museum and the
chamber of commerce
but take it also to the forest.
The song you heard singing in the leaf when you
were a child
is singing still.
I am of years lived, so far, seventy-four,
and the leaf is singing still.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I need photographic experience to take this class?
Absolutely not, this class is for any level of expertise of experience. What is needed is not experience but rather intention.
What sort of camera or equipment do I need?
You can use anything you have that takes photos- from your phone to a big girl camera and everything in between. When you register I will send you a list of optional “toys” that might help you on your path, but they are totally optional, using what you have will keep it raw and true.
Do I need to be on Facebook and Instagram to participate?
No, these are just a beautiful way to gather and share. Think of them as our cosy fireplace we meet around at the end of the day to share our journey and listen to each others stories. Perhaps your process requires solitude at the end of an adventure- that’s ok too, honour yourself here.
Can I share the class with others?
I am pouring as much of this process and my heart into this project and class and I would really appreciate it if you didn’t share it with anyone who hasn’t signed up for it. It is both good Karma and good manners :)
Do I need to have taken Camera Craft to take this course?
No this is a stand alone class with no photographic experience necessary.
How is this workshop different from Camera Craft?
While Camera Craft is full of rich inspiration from all the contributors it is essentially a technique designed course to help with your photographic practice where as this course is more about a connection with self, and a soulful creative practice. It was inspired by a popular lesson in Camera Craft (the Wabi Sabi class), the participants really loved that class and I wanted to go deeper with some of the ideas from it.
Once I sign up for the course can I change my mind?
Sorry, but all sales are final, once you have signed up there are no refunds for this course.
