What do you love about Newborn Babies?

I thought I would start a list of all the things we love about newborn babies. Please add your favorite things in the comments. To get you started I've put a few:
  • They’re ever so soft skin.
  • The center on the top of their heads where all their hair radiates out from- I call it the Center of the Universe.
  • The skin they have to still grow into.
  • Those deep deep pools that stare at you ever so innocently but with a hint of such wisdom.
  • The sweet smell, a milky fresh bread smell.
  • Trust, they radiate trust.
  • The way they curl up into little balls.
  • The back arching stretch.

Newlife Photography- newborn photography Sydney

Today in the studio I was talking to some clients who had brought in their third child for his photos like his elder brother and sister had done with us. They were telling me how much they appreciate and love the photos that they have of their other two children. They said that at the time it seemed like a big thing to have splurged on but as the time goes on and the babies continually change, the memory of the expense vanishes and only the precious memories of such a special and quickly passing time remains. They are so glad that they will always have these photos. I totally understand as I know how important and cherished the photos of my children but its always affirming to hear how much people appreciate what we do. Thank you.

Baby Snowman
This is the baby snow man that the children found at Stanley Park. They gave him arms and would not be consoled that they couldn't bring him home with us. That snowmen don't travel well is a detail that children are indifferent to. In the end we found him a special new home with a view of downtown Vancouver.
These trees in the foreground remind me of the snow gums in Australia.
Trees above the clouds.
View of Vancouver
This is probably the last photo I took in Vancouver on our last day coming down the road from Grouse Mountain. Even though it was a sunny day and much of the snow was beginning to melt, Vancouver was still hidden under a blanket of clouds.

Lotus for Hope- Newlife Photography pregnancy photography

I've been running into this client a few times recently and saw this beautiful little one all grown up into a cheeky and brazen little toddler. She still looks the same with those beautiful lips and she reminded me of this beautiful pregnancy photo, when she was still brewing, with the lotus, one of my favorite flowers and ever so hard to find. The lotus flower represents purity and hope as the flower rises up high above the murky and muddy water it grows out of, pristine and reaching for the heavens- how appropriate for pregnancy. www.newlifephotography.com

Another Paige- Newlife Photography newborn baby photographer Sydney

Beautiful Paige asleep and awake- how different does she look? This beautiful family had so many stunning photos to pick from between their pregnancy photos, the baby photos and their little girl Maddison who was full of smiles at the pregnancy shoot. I was so glad when they rang to add a few more photos to their album that they couldn't live without including the sleeping one above which didn't make the first cut. Too too many to pick from. www.newlifephotography.com

Happy Mother's Day-Newlife Photography newborn photography Sydney

Celebrating Mother's Day. How special a moment is this between this mother and 2 week old little baby. Nobody can tell me that newborn babies don't smile, that its only wind. I have been photographing newborn babies way to long now not to know that of course they smile. They may have only been on this planet for a short time but that does not necessarily make them new souls. They all come jam packed with personality and a wicked sense of humour. www.newlifephotography.com
